Painting is meditative once you begin, and I believe that is why I have become addicted to painting. It’s nice to take time out of your day and spend time alone to do something productive. Whether or not your painting turns out nice doesn’t matter, the whole process of painting is soothing. I always like to play mellow music and sort of get lost in the making of a painting.
This is why I encourage anyone to just try out painting once. If you don’t like it that’s alright, but I guarantee you that you will find it a very peaceful experience. Many people paint when they are stressed, not necessarily paint an actual image but just random strokes which turns out to becoming an abstract piece. It’s truly amazing to critique an abstract piece of art and find the meaning that the artist was trying to convey.
Art had always been my favorite subject all throughout middle school and high school. I enjoyed the atmosphere of silence for that small period out of a hectic day. I also enjoyed art because there was an unlimited opportunity to basically do what you want and let your creative mind wander. Even if painting is not your thing, there are numerous other ways that art can be created. If you have a prominent creative mind, I encourage you to instill that mind into art. Whether it be through painting, drawing, or even creating a sculpture. Who knows, you may pick up a new hobby!
